1Password Business pricing in 2026, and a cheaper alternative

A password manager is one of the few tools every employee should have, so it's billed on your full headcount. That makes the per-seat price matter more than it looks. A few dollars a month, multiplied by everyone, every year, adds up. Here's what 1Password's business plans cost today, where the price jumps, and how Bitwarden compares.

All prices below were checked on the vendors' own pricing pages on 20 October 2026. Prices change, so confirm them before you negotiate.

1Password's business plans

From 1Password's business pricing page, with annual billing:

PlanPriceUsers
Teams Starter Pack$24.95 per month flat, or $299.40 a yearUp to 10 included, up to 20 total
Business$8.99 per user per month, or $107.88 per user per year1 user minimum
EnterpriseContact salesVolume pricing

On the Teams Starter Pack, seats beyond the first 10 cost $4.99 per seat per month, up to 20 members.

Teams Starter Pack includes role-based permissions, secure sharing, security alerts, developer tools and 5 guest accounts.

Business adds SSO integrations with identity providers such as Okta, Entra ID, OneLogin and Duo, Watchtower alerts, role-based vault sharing and 20 guests.

Enterprise adds volume-based pricing, onboarding for 101 or more users and a dedicated customer success manager.

Where the price jumps

The Starter Pack works out to about $2.50 per user per month at 10 people. Once you pass 20 members, or need SSO, you move to Business at $8.99 per user. That's the jump to plan for.

For a 50-person company on Business, that's $107.88 × 50 = $5,394 a year. At 200 people, it's $21,576, unless you negotiate volume pricing on Enterprise.

Before renewing, check:

  • Seats for people who left. Offboarding often removes email access but forgets the password manager.
  • Guest accounts. Contractors on a guest account don't need a full seat.
  • Whether you need SSO. If SSO is the only reason you're on Business, confirm it's a real requirement from IT.

The cheaper alternative: Bitwarden

From Bitwarden's business pricing page, billed annually:

PlanPrice
Teams$4.00 per user per month
Enterprise$6.00 per user per month

Both plans include event logs, directory sync, SCIM provisioning, user groups, Duo two-step login and API access. Enterprise adds enterprise policies, custom roles, account recovery, a free Families plan for each user and the option to self-host. Bitwarden's comparison table lists SSO login under Enterprise, so if SSO is a requirement, confirm with Bitwarden which plan you need.

10 peopleStarter Pack, $299 a year$480 a year$720 a year
50 peopleBusiness, $5,394 a year$2,400 a year$3,600 a year
200 peopleBusiness list price, $21,576 a year$9,600 a year$14,400 a year

All figures use annual list prices from each vendor's pricing page. 1Password's Enterprise volume pricing isn't published, so a large company may pay less than the Business list price.

Two things stand out. Below 20 people, 1Password's Starter Pack is the cheapest option here. Above that, Bitwarden Enterprise costs about a third less than 1Password Business per seat at list price, and adds a self-hosting option.

Switching costs

Password managers are harder to switch than most tools, because every employee has to move their vault. Check the import options before you commit, and plan for:

  • A cutover date, with both tools running for a short overlap
  • A short guide for employees on exporting their personal items, if any are stored in work vaults
  • Re-creating shared vaults and their permissions

Because switching is real work, many companies use a competing quote as leverage instead. "We have a Bitwarden quote at $6 per seat" is a concrete ask at renewal. For the full playbook, see how to negotiate a SaaS renewal.
