Loom pricing in 2026, and how to stop paying for people who never record
Loom is cheap per person and easy to roll out to a whole company, which is how it becomes a surprisingly large line item. Most people in a Loom workspace watch videos. Far fewer record them. This post covers what each plan costs, what the AI tier actually adds, and how to size the bill to the people who need it.
All prices below were checked on the vendors' own pricing pages on 28 October 2026.
Loom's plans
From Loom's pricing page, in USD:
| Plan | Price | Billing |
|---|---|---|
| Starter | Free | n/a |
| Business | $18 per user/month | Monthly, or annual ("save up to 17%") |
| Business + AI | $24 per user/month | Monthly, or annual ("save up to 17%") |
| Enterprise | Not published | Contact sales |
Loom's FAQ says annual subscriptions are charged by the number of distinct paid users. The page doesn't list the annual per-user price, so get it in writing before you commit.

Where the money goes
The 5-minute limit on Starter is what pushes teams to pay. Once one person upgrades, the habit is often to put everyone on Business. Here is what that looks like for a 20-person team where 6 people record regularly:
| Setup | Monthly cost |
|---|---|
| All 20 on Business + AI | $480 |
| All 20 on Business | $360 |
| 6 recorders on Business | $108 |
The gap between Business and Business + AI is $6 per user per month. Across 20 users that's $120 a month, or $1,440 a year, for AI summaries and editing. Before paying it for everyone, ask who actually uses auto chapters or meeting notes.
How to cut the bill
- Count recorders, not viewers. Pull a list of who recorded a video in the last 90 days. That's your real seat count.
- Confirm how viewers are billed. Ask Loom whether people who only watch and comment need a paid seat in your workspace. The pricing page doesn't spell this out.
- Keep AI to the people who use it. If only a few people need summaries and transcript editing, ask whether you can mix Business and Business + AI seats.
- Check the annual price. "Save up to 17%" is a ceiling, not a quote. Ask for the exact annual per-user figure.
- Ask what SSO costs. SSO and SCIM are only on Enterprise. If security is forcing the upgrade, that's your negotiating point, so get a quote early.
Alternative: Tella
From Tella's pricing page, per user per month in USD:
| Plan | Price | Adds |
|---|---|---|
| Pro | $13, shown as billed annually | Unlimited videos, 4K export, team collaboration, analytics |
| Premium | $19, shown as billed annually | Custom domain, Tella branding removed, 60 FPS export, all-time analytics |
| Enterprise | Custom | SSO and SCIM, personalised onboarding, volume discounts |
Paid Tella plans allow clips up to 6 hours. The page also shows a monthly/annual toggle without a separate monthly price, so check checkout before you compare monthly bills. Tella is aimed more at polished recorded content than quick async replies. Try it with your own workflow before switching.
Side by side
For 6 people who record:
| Option | Monthly cost | Catch |
|---|---|---|
| Loom Starter | $0 | 5-minute limit, 25 videos per person |
| Loom Business | $108 | Annual price not published |
| Loom Business + AI | $144 | Only worth it if people use the AI features |
| Tella Pro | $78 | Shown as billed annually, different workflow |
| Tella Premium | $114 | Shown as billed annually |
What to do with this
Right-size the seats first. It's the biggest saving and needs no migration. Then take the recorder count and the Tella numbers to your renewal. Our guide to negotiating a SaaS renewal covers timing and what to ask for, and the SaaS audit guide shows how to find other tools with the same problem.
