Mixpanel vs Amplitude pricing in 2026, free tiers and all

Mixpanel and Amplitude both price product analytics by event volume, and both offer unlimited seats on every plan. That makes the bill predictable in one way: adding teammates is free. It's unpredictable in another: every new tracking call costs money once you pass the free allowance. This post compares the plans, the free tiers and the startup programs, and shows how to keep volume under control.

All prices below were checked on the vendors' own pricing pages on 4 November 2026.

Mixpanel

From Mixpanel's pricing page:

PlanPriceEvents per monthSeats
Free$0Up to 1MUnlimited
GrowthFirst 1M free, then priced by volumeUp to 20MUnlimited
EnterpriseCustomUp to 1TUnlimited

The pricing slider's default example for Growth is $100 a month on an annual plan, or $140 billed monthly, for 18M events a year (1.5M a month). That's $1,200 a year, and the page says annual billing saves $480 a year at that level. Volume discounts are available on Growth. Move the slider to your own volume before you budget.

What each plan adds:

  • Free: funnels and retention analysis, autocapture, 10,000 session replays a month, up to 10 active feature flags, and 5 saved reports per seat.
  • Growth: unlimited saved reports and cohorts, custom properties, multi-touch attribution, the query API, data warehouse connectors, SAML SSO and SCIM, and heatmaps. Group Analytics and Data Pipelines cost extra.
  • Enterprise: anomaly detection, root cause analysis, data governance tools, HIPAA tools with a BAA, unlimited alerts and custom retention.

Amplitude

From Amplitude's pricing page:

PlusStarts at $0, first 2M events freeUp to 70MUnlimited
GrowthCustomCustomUnlimited
EnterpriseCustomCustomUnlimited

Amplitude's page doesn't show dollar amounts for Plus volume tiers, so get a quote at your volume. Plus requires a credit card.

What each plan adds:

  • Free: product analytics, 10,000 replay sessions a month, 1 active experiment, unlimited feature flags, and 1 year of data access. Amplitude says it's not a trial and has no time limit.
  • Plus: custom events and formulas, behavioral cohorts (20 per organization), heatmaps, limited forecasting and alerts, webhooks, and 2 years of data access.
  • Growth: advanced behavioral analysis, SSO and project permissions, A/B/n testing, conversion drivers, and unlimited data access.
  • Enterprise: data access controls, role-based access, SCIM, root cause analysis, and a dedicated account manager.

Other limits5 saved reports per seat, 10 active feature flags1 active experiment, 1 year of data access

Amplitude's free plan covers twice as many events. For an early-stage product, that's usually the number that matters most.

Startup programs

Both vendors give eligible startups a free first year:

  • Mixpanel: companies founded less than 5 years ago, with up to $8M in total funding, that haven't redeemed other offers get their first year free on the Startup Plan.
  • Amplitude: startups with under $10M in funding and fewer than 20 employees get one free year on the Growth plan.

If you qualify for either, apply before you pay for anything. Put the end date of the free year in your calendar. That's when the real price decision happens.

How to keep the bill down

1. Track decisions, not everything. Autocapture is convenient but sends a lot of events. Keep the events that answer questions you actually ask, and turn off the rest.

2. Remove duplicate and noisy events. Page pings, heartbeat events and double-fired tracking calls inflate volume without adding insight. Audit your top 20 events by volume every quarter.

3. Use the warehouse for raw history. If you already pay for a data warehouse, keep the long tail of raw events there and send only product-relevant events to the analytics tool.

4. Commit annually once volume is stable. On Mixpanel's example tier, annual billing is $100 a month instead of $140. Don't commit until you know your real volume, though.

5. Price both at renewal. Seats are free on both, so switching costs are mostly re-instrumenting events and rebuilding dashboards. A competing quote is a credible lever. Our guide to negotiating a SaaS renewal covers the timing.

What to do with this

Small products should start on whichever free plan fits their volume. Amplitude covers more events for free. Growing teams should price their real monthly event count on both, and apply for the startup programs first.
