monday.com vs ClickUp pricing in 2026, plan by plan

monday.com and ClickUp both start at $9 a seat, and both push you toward a middle tier. The prices look similar, but the limits that force an upgrade are different. This post lines up the numbers so you can pick the cheaper one for how your team works.

All prices below were checked on the vendors' own pricing pages on 29 October 2026. Both pages lead with annual prices, so those are the figures used here.

monday.com work management

From monday.com's pricing page, per seat per month, billed annually:

PlanPriceKey limits
Free$0Up to 2 seats, 3 boards, 3 Docs
Basic$9Unlimited items, unlimited free viewers
Standard$12250 automation and 250 integration actions per month
Pro$1925,000 automation and 25,000 integration actions per month
EnterpriseCustomUp to 250,000 actions per month

The page shows a monthly billing toggle and says yearly saves 18%, but doesn't list monthly per-seat prices next to the yearly ones. Check them at checkout if you want to pay monthly.

What each step up adds:

  • Basic: unlimited items and free viewers. No automations.
  • Standard: timeline, Gantt and calendar views, guest access, and the first automations and integrations.
  • Pro: private boards and docs, time tracking, advanced columns, and a 100x jump in automation actions.
  • Enterprise: portfolio and resource management, multi-level permissions, enterprise security and a 99.9% uptime SLA.

ClickUp

From ClickUp's pricing page, per user per month, billed yearly:

PlanYearly price"Regular price" shownKey limits
Free Forever$0n/a60 MB storage
Core$9$121,000 automations per month
Business$17$2510,000 automations per month
EnterpriseCustomn/a1M automations per month
Max$100$120Everything in Enterprise plus heavier AI use

ClickUp shows a "regular price" next to each yearly price but doesn't say whether that's the monthly-billed price or a promotion. Ask before you assume the lower figure will hold at renewal.

What each step up adds:

  • Core: unlimited storage, custom fields and task types, unlimited Gantt charts, goals and guest permissions.
  • Business: advanced dashboards, webhooks, resource management, timesheets, Google SSO and private docs.
  • Enterprise: white labelling, SAML SSO and SCIM, audit logs, HIPAA and data residency.
  • Max: the most AI usage, AI agents and custom AI skills.

Where the limits bite

Automations decide the tier. On monday.com, Standard gives 250 automation actions a month. A team that automates status changes and notifications can use that up fast, and the next step is Pro at $19. ClickUp's entry paid plan gives 1,000 automations a month for $9, and Business gives 10,000 for $17. If automations matter, ClickUp's lower tiers go further.

Viewers are cheaper on monday.com. Basic and above include unlimited free viewers. If most of your stakeholders only read boards, you only pay for the people who edit.

Free plans are built for different teams. monday.com's free plan stops at 2 seats. ClickUp's free plan has no seat cap on the page, but it has only 60 MB of storage. That's fine for a trial and not much more.

AI is metered on both. Each plan includes a monthly allowance of AI credits. Don't pick a tier for its AI features until you know how many credits your team actually uses.

What a 10-person team pays

Every seat at the yearly price:

OptionMonthly costYearly cost
monday.com Basic$90$1,080
monday.com Standard$120$1,440
monday.com Pro$190$2,280
ClickUp Core$90$1,080
ClickUp Business$170$2,040

At the entry tier they cost the same. The difference shows up in the middle tier. ClickUp Business costs $50 a month more than monday.com Standard but has 40 times the automation allowance. monday.com Pro costs $20 a month more than ClickUp Business but has a larger automation allowance.

How to cut the bill on either

  1. Count editors, not people. On monday.com, move read-only stakeholders to free viewers.
  2. Check your automation use. Look at last month's automation count before you upgrade. You may be paying for a tier you don't need.
  3. Lock the price. Ask for the renewal price in writing, especially for ClickUp, where the page shows a higher "regular price".
  4. Use the other vendor as leverage. Their entry prices match, so a quote from one is a credible reason to ask the other for a discount.

What to do with this

Pick by what drives your upgrades. Automation-heavy teams get more from ClickUp's paid tiers. Teams with lots of read-only stakeholders save with monday.com's free viewers.
